This term covers a wider field than that of \"memory\", as it raises the question of representation, both of the image itself and of induced images (association of ideas), affects, verbalized thoughts, etc. The \"story\", i.e. the pretext, is provided here by my grandmother. The basic visual material was created by my grandfather. So this is also a kind of posthumous family project. <br \/>As a child, I used to ask my grandmother why she couldn't sleep at night. She replied that when you're old, you move less, so you need less sleep. On the other hand, you had more memories. So, during her sleepless nights, she liked to relive moments from the past that she cherished. On the other hand, she liked to say that when she got really old (?), she'd be all shriveled up and tiny, so I could put her in a little box that I'd always have with me. <br \/>20 years later, approaching a hundred and feeling like she was dying, she insisted on giving me as a final gift a travel alarm clock just as old as she was (\"because you travel a lot\"). The object takes the form of a small cubic brass box, exactly what I'd imagined as a child I'd have to \"put\" it in.<br \/>So there it is. But inside, by way of grandmother, there's a spring, gears and needles. There's time, or the idea we have of it. Maybe that's all she was: just time. constante autour des \"images en conscience\", c'est-\u00e0-dire de ce qu'il reste d'une image en terme d'affect, de processus cognitif, lorsque la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 qui l'a faite na\u00eetre ne subsiste plus que dans une conscience individuelle. Ce terme recouvre un champ plus large que celui du \"souvenir\", car il pose la question de la repr\u00e9sentation, \u00e0 la fois de l'image elle m\u00eame mais aussi des images induites (association d'id\u00e9es), affects, pens\u00e9es verbalis\u00e9es, etc\u2026\u2028L'\"histoire\", c'est \u00e0 dire le pr\u00e9texte, est ici fournie par ma grand-m\u00e8re. Le mat\u00e9riel visuel de base a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par mon grand-p\u00e8re. Il s'agit donc \u00e9galement d'une sorte de projet familial posthume.\u2028 <br \/> Enfant, je demandais \u00e0 ma grand-m\u00e8re pourquoi elle n'arrivait pas \u00e0 dormir la nuit. Elle me r\u00e9pondait que lorsque l'on \u00e9tait vieux, on bougeait moins, et que par cons\u00e9quent on avait besoin de moins de sommeil. Par contre, on avait plus de souvenir. Aussi aimait-elle revivre, pendant ses nuits blanches, les moments du pass\u00e9 auxquels elle tenait. D'autre part, elle aimait \u00e0 dire que lorsqu'elle serait vraiment vieille (?), elle serait toute ratatin\u00e9e et minuscule, et que je pourrais donc la mettre dans une petite boite que j'aurai toujours sur moi.\u2028 <br \/>20 ans plus tard, approchant la centaine et se sentant mourir, elle a tenue \u00e0 me donner comme ultime cadeau un r\u00e9veil de voyage tout aussi vieux qu'elle (\"parce que tu voyage beaucoup\"). L'objet se pr\u00e9sente comme une petite boite cubique en laiton, exactement dans l'id\u00e9e que je me faisait, enfant, de la bo\u00eete dans laquelle je devais la \"mettre\". \u2028<br \/>La boite est donc bien l\u00e0. Mais \u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur, en guise de grand-m\u00e8re, il y a un ressort, des engrenages, des aiguilles. Il y a le temps, o\u00f9 l'id\u00e9e que l'on s'en fait.\u2028 Elle \u00e9tait peut-\u00eatre cela : juste du temps. Du temps pour s'occuper de moi, du temps pour amasser des souvenirs et me les raconter sous forme d'histoires.\u2028 <br \/>Mon grand-p\u00e8re a tourn\u00e9 l'essentiel des images avec une cam\u00e9ra qu'il avait con\u00e7u avec son \u00e9quipe, une Crouzet ST8, premi\u00e8re cam\u00e9ra l\u00e9g\u00e8re \u00e0 exposition automatique.
