Bashô was a 17th-century Japanese poet. His complex life, full of travel and encounters, was dedicated to the extremely sober form of the haiku.
The program, derived from "silent words", is the result of the same restraint. A simple idea, inspired by the poetry of Bashô, summarized in a sentence composed of a few words, is chosen by the computer. An ideogram is generated for each word, along with a reading direction. The result is a singular and ever-changing form of writing that attempts to express an idea. After each generation, the idea appears briefly and intelligibly.
